I'm posting this collection of information and links so I don't have to pull it together again every time I need to make this point on Bluesky.
The factual support for this point can be found everywher you look. Israel is committing genocide. Israel is committing war crimes. The US has provided Israel the military support they have used to commit these crimes against humanity. During periods of both Democratic and Republican control of Congress and the presidency, the US has continued to provide aid to Israel's genocidal apartheid regime.
Words are words, but Harris has at least demanded a cease-fire in Gaza and stated that Palestinians have a "right to dignity, security, freedom and self-determination."
Trump has expressed a desire for the end of the war in Gaza but has provided few specifics and opposes a cease-fire. Odds are that his plan to end the war in Gaza - which he's also said is a lower priority than ending the war in Ukraine, by which he means allowing Russia to keep the 20% of Ukraine they're already occupying - will be letting Israel speed up the genocide ("Get your victory and get it over with").
His current advisors on "Israel and Jewish outreach in particular [are] right-wing media figures and megadonors."
And one of the primary desires of his major donor Miriam Adelson - who's Israeli - and others in his circle is the annexation of the West Bank, which would multiply and accelerate the ongoing ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.
For the record, despite claims to the contrary, Trump is neither less hawkish nor more anti-imperialist than his predecessors.
In terms of funding Israel vs. FEMA, Congress has given Israel approximately $23 billion in war funding since April - these numbers are from the pro-Israel American Jewish Committee. Annual Israel aid budget is $12.5 billion.
Congress allocated $36 billion for FEMA's disaster relief fund in FY 2023. As of October 2024, Congress has allocated $20 billion just for relief from the damage caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton and is likely to allocate more in November.
Trump is unlikely to radically cut FEMA disaster funding but his advisers want to end FEMA aid that's earmarked to help migrants and spending on government resources devoted to weather monitoring and climate change, among other bad ideas. Sources for the preceding include FactCheck.org, whose policy is apparently to take statements from Trump at face value despite his compulsive lying.
Aside from the fact that Trump is a fascist who constantly tried to use the power of the government to benefit himself, has idiotic ideas about both domestic and foreign policy, and tried to steal the 2020 election, the Biden administration has made significant progress with climate change initiatives, where Trump apparently loathes the very notion of protecting the environment and has "broadly opposed efforts on climate change".
We're virtually guaranteed more natural disasters like we're seeing right now and Trump has contemplated withholding disaster aid in order to force blue states to enact his policies. During his first term he also proposed taking military action against Mexican targets that would amount to acts of war and the use of nuclear weapons against both foreign adversaries and hurricanes.
